To mark the closing weekend of WE CAN BE HEROES: a backstage pass, Newcastle Art Gallery and New Annual present an intimate gig with featured exhibition subject and renowned Australian musician Paul Dempsey.

In this one of a kind acoustic performance, Dempsey will share his own stories from life on the stage and his career spanning more than 25 years. Tackling subject matters beyond the realm of rock n roll, Dempsey’s songs explore everything from the existential angst of artificial intelligence to the possibility of apocalyptic romance - ensuring he is never predictable. Dempsey is regarded as one of the country’s finest and most fiercely original lyricists.

WE CAN BE HEROES: a backstage pass presents a behind the scenes tour viewed through the lens of four leading Australian music photographers - Charlie Hardy, Maclay Heriot, Sophie Howarth and Luke Kellett. The exhibition celebrates the connection and relationship between the photographer and their subject.

Tickets to this limited capacity event will be available soon!  Booking fees and charges may apply.

About the artist: Paul Dempsey is the singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of one of Australia’s most successful and respected bands, Something for Kate.
