Trolleys : Shaun Parker & Company

“While people are drawn into this narrative, it is the athleticism in the way the dances use their everyday prop that is spellbinding, not unlike other forms of street performance such as breakdancing to urban skaters”

Part dance. Part ballet. Part outdoor spectacle.

Five shopping carts randomly appear in a public space. Two meet and fall in love. A lone cart grapples to find a friend. Three others revolt and ignite a dance of anarchy. Trolleys spin, glide and slide in this highly physical outdoor performance work where high-octane contemporary dance, parkour, acrobatics and street dance merge with the extraordinary world of the trolleys.

Winner of the Argus Angel Award (Brighton Festival, UK) – TROLLEYS  is a twenty minute outdoor dance theatre work utilising five supermarket trolleys and five exceptional dance and physical theatre artists. Choreographed by Shaun Parker and set to the stunning orchestral score composed by Australian Nick Wales. TROLLEYS had its premiere in the 2012 London Cultural Olympiad, and has since toured globally to over 400,000 spectators.

After each TROLLEYS performance there will be a free 20 minute Hip Hop workshop taught by a Shaun Parker & Company dancer. This workshop is accessible for all ages.
