TiNA Festival

share

The 23rd iteration of Newcastle’s iconic This is Not Art Festival (TiNA) presents a micro showcase of experimental artists working with light and sound. The three-day festival, held 19-21 February 2021 will start Friday evening and span the course of the weekend.

The TiNA 2021 showcase of experimental artists celebrates non-tangible mediums such as light, sound and performance and ranges from immersive sound experiments, light projections to brainwave-controlled synthesisers (Yes, electrodes will be connected to the performers brain..!) Festival goers will experience a ‘Sonic Take-Over’ of Newcastle Museum, ‘Sound City’ activations across Newcastle East and a secret 'Sonic Bath' held at sunrise.

Talented local artists featuring in the weekends activations include; Josh Ingle, Louisa Magrics, Boy Lost, Sean Balladen + Eliza Jane, Rubber Nurse, Boris Hoodie, Somnus Lak, Rewa Wright, Matthew Larner, Amelia Bessenyei, DOVE, Sam Madden, Josh Barnett and many more.

TiNA respectfully acknowledges the Awabakal, Worimi, Wonnarua and Darkinyung peoples - the traditional owners of the unceded land upon which we hold our Festival and other events. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.

TiNA is proudly supported by the City of Newcastle through the Council Support for the Arts and Cultural Organisations in Newcastle Program.
