University of Newcastle Student Showcase : Civic Bar Beats

The University of Newcastle Student Showcase is a free live music event hosted by Civic Theatre Bar. Featuring a mix of originals and unique covers, this is a great opportunity to uncover Newcastle's best young talent.

Shayanne Irwin captivates listeners with her unique sound ranging from acoustic pop to country. Shayanne is also a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, violin, flute and mandolin.

NILLA is an alternative Aussie hip-hop artist who uses live looping with guitar and drum pad to present his catchy, quirky original songs with an authentic, dynamic and engaging live performance. 

Bree Rusev featured in the International Songwriting Competition with her single ‘Goodbye’ in 2022. Her heartfelt lyrics and acoustic melodies will leave you enchanted.

Eastern Echo
Chuan Qin is an erhu master. She plays some traditional and not-so-traditional Chinese music. Chuan Qin revitalizes a traditional instrument to bridge the cultures of the East and West. With her command of the instrument, beautiful music echoes from the Erhu with her jaw dropping and funny performance.

Abbi Yeo Duo was the 2021 winner of ‘Steel City 50’, her elegant sound and vulnerable words captivate her passion for performance.
