CREATION is a queer science fiction climate change religion! Manifesting across artforms, CREATION brings ceremonial, communal climate action to life with regalia, chanting, banners, movement and (ir)reverence.

A highlight of the New Annual festival, CREATION is a major exhibition accompanied by a series of public workshops in costume-making, song, and dance. Working with local artists, choirs, and dancers, the workshops lead to a spectacular procession and concert showcasing the Songs of CREATION composed by Lex Lindsay.

Sparking a rethink of living and engaging with the world, Deborah Kelly and collaborators will stage an ornate choral procession across Newcastle, adorned in rich regalia, performing musical works based on poems by Ellen van Neerven, Evelyn Araluen, Jinghua Qian, Virginia Barratt and Heather Grace Jones.

Or simply take in the visual beauty of Deborah Kelly's work at the Lock-Up contemporary Art Space.

Whatever your worship style, CREATION shifts minds and spirits, demanding active participation in shaping the future and is New Annual's glorious gala closing event.
