The Savage Divide
“Kenning has developed his own visual vocabulary complete with recurring motifs, signs, and symbols which give meaning to the dichotomy of the everyday and the absolute. “The Savage Divide” is the latest offering of new artworks produced by Newcastle based artist Ben Kenning over the course of the last two years. “The Savage Divide” seeks to examine a dialogue between notions of wholeness and division, explored through visual concepts and investigated through paintings created in black and white.”
The process by which Kenning paints and the symbols and the codes embedded within infuse meaning in the artworks. The artist’s conceptualisation concerns a synthesis of opposites involving philosophical, spiritual and existential ideas. Kenning attempts to articulate a balance between motion and rest; matter and void; chaos and order, whilst redefining conventional notions of mental, physical and spiritual realities.”
Tickets are available to attend a special opening night session on 5 February.
